PRIME Minister David Cameron has praised Torbay Council for its part in a scheme which has 'turned around' the lives of 69 troubled families.The progress of the programme means that:* Children are back in school where they were previously playing truant or excluded.* High levels of youth crime and anti-social behaviour are down.* Adults are getting off benefits and into work.* The costs to local public services and burden on the taxpayer are being reduced.
'The Local Government Boundaries Commission have now published their draft proposals for SHDC. They propose a Council reduced from 40 to 31 Members with significant changes in Ward Boundaries. The proposals on their web site http://www.lgbce.org.uk/ are open for consultation for 10 weeks. Their final conclusions will be published in February 2014 and take effect for the Election in May 2015.
Devon County Council is rolling out a programme of health checks for Devon residents aged between 40 and 74, as part of its new public health role which will see almost 50,000 people across the county offered a health check every year.
